We would tell you that there are some Canadian citizenship requirements you must meet before they will grant you citizenship.

WHO IS A CANADIAN CITIZEN?

With permission from the Canadian government, you can obtain all of the paperwork you require, as well as a list of the required documents, from the IRCC website (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). They must be filled out electronically, printed, and then submitted.

Along with your application package, you will be given the address(es) to send your completed application. You must send the paperwork and documentation to that address in an envelope containing everything.

Canada Citizenship Test

Applicants must pass a citizenship examination between the ages of 18 and 54, which evaluates their knowledge of Canada’s:

  • History
  • Geography
  • Economy
  • Government
  • Laws
  • Symbols

Four days before the day of the exam, you will be properly informed about it.

The “Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship” study guide serves as the basis for the exam. This can be downloaded, listened to online, or read aloud. You can ask for a printed version as well.

Other countries also allow dual citizenship. For example, if you are a US citizen and obtain Canadian citizenship, your status as a US citizen remains unchanged. You will, however, be a dual citizen of the United States and Canada.

Some countries may require you to give up your current citizenship to obtain new citizenship. You should review your country’s citizenship laws because they differ from one another.
